Teen-in-Job-Training (TJT)
Level One
Teen-in-Job-Training Level One:
June 27 – July 26
Teen-in-Job-Training Level Two:
June 27 – July 26
(Level Two is available only to teens who have completed TJT Level One at OFRC. Teens will receive a stipend for participating in this program)
The TJT Program (Teen-in-Job-Training) is a dynamic leadership and job-in-nature-training program for youth from 15-17 years old.
The TJT’s will live in tents or rustic cabins, participate in on-the-job training and learn to become leaders with positive relationships to themselves, to the environment, and their community.
TJT-Level Two’s will be coaches to the TJT-Level One’s and will have the responsibility to create and implement programs for youth campers at least two times each week.
The program begins with one week of training where the TJT’s build community, learn about leadership, develop trust in themselves and one another, and discover the tools for overcoming obstacles and becoming responsible contributing members of their team. Teens will be assigned a supervisor and all teens will work with a team mentor each afternoon.
Week ONE: Become part of the Oakland Feather River Camp Staff. Learn the songs and traditions, get your job assignment, report to a recreation staff leader and learn to lead programs. Each afternoon attend a class with fellow TJT’s to learn how to be a a camp counselor. Learn valuable skills, develop a strong work ethic, contribute to the team/community, and have a great time while learning!
Week TWO: Become a CIT (Counselor-In-Training) for Camp Kidd & Camp Sierra. Move to the Youth Camp where you will enjoy being a camp leader for the kids (aged 7 – 11) and help care for them and show them a good time!
Week THREE & FOUR: Move back to Family Camp and get a new job assignment as part of the office, recreation, or camp store team. Continue daily classes to learn about the environment, team building, and create your team to be the best yet at OFRC!
Teens must send an application to be accepted into this dynamic program.
